What was presented on the call
This is the transcript of the post-earnings call held after the Q2 FY27 results, for the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026. The management was represented by Mr. Rajendra Kumar Saboo, Managing Director & CEO (I/C) and Executive Director, and Mr. Vijay N Kamble, Executive Director.
- Total business of the bank reached Rs.6,37,280 crore.
- Gross (global) advances grew 24.70% year-on-year.
- Total deposits reached Rs.3,49,590 crore.
- Net profit for the quarter was Rs.786 crore, a growth of 26.77% year-on-year.
Management said advance growth came from all sectors, naming retail, agriculture, MSME and corporate, and that operating profit, net interest income and fee-based income all improved. The CASA ratio was maintained, but management noted it was slightly lower than the June quarter.
Asset quality
- Gross NPA ratio: 1.96%.
- Net NPA ratio: 0.18%.
Management said the improvement in profitability came along with an improvement in asset quality, and that the bank is already ahead of the NPA levels it had set for itself for the full year.
What was said about guidance
Management said the actual performance is exceeding the guidance it gave at the beginning of the year, with the CASA ratio the only exception.
- Growth: both deposit growth and advance growth are running ahead of the guidance given for the year, with advances growing 24.70%.
- Gross NPA: the bank says it has already met its full-year target in the first half, with the ratio at 1.96%.
- Net NPA: the ratio of 0.18% is already below the 0.25% the bank had guided for the year.
- Slippage ratio: management said it was also kept below the level the bank had guided for.
- CASA: the bank flagged this as the one measure where the outcome is below its earlier guidance, as the ratio was slightly lower than the June quarter.
Product and digital initiatives listed
- Launched a UCO Digital Rupee marketplace, where the digital rupee can be used through the CBDC wallet, and CBDC IVR services so customers can use it offline.
- Launched UPI Tap and Pay, a UPI help feature, and a UPI automatic surveillance system that lets a customer check the authenticity of a VPA or QR code before paying.
- Started robotic process automation for internal processes and put in place a digital marketing solution for its products.
- Under Project Parivartan, the bank said its digital business balance sheet has grown, and it has onboarded the digital marketing solution to grow it further.
- Started a customer portal in branches that gives the branch a full view of the customer, and an online self-service module on the bank's website.
The bank said it also opened its GIFT City IBU in this quarter, and has international branches in Hong Kong and Singapore.
How a retail investor might read this
- The transcript is management's own account of the quarter: more business, higher profit and lower NPA ratios.
- The main point management is making is that it is ahead of its own full-year targets on growth and on both NPA ratios, and that CASA is the only measure running below plan.
- CASA is the share of low-cost current and savings account deposits. Management said this ratio was maintained but came in slightly lower than the June quarter, and separately noted that the cost of funds increased somewhat, which is worth reading together.
