What the tax communication says

- 10% TDS for resident shareholders with a valid PAN updated in the company's register of members, with no document needed if no exemption is sought.
- 20% where PAN is not available or not valid, where the shareholder is a specified person under Section 397(2), or where PAN is not linked with Aadhaar.
- No TDS for resident individual shareholders whose total dividend for Tax Year 2026-27 does not exceed ₹ 10,000, and where Form 121 conditions are met.
- Non-resident shareholders, including FIIs and FPIs: 20% plus applicable surcharge and cess, or the tax treaty rate, whichever is beneficial, subject to documents such as SEBI registration, Tax Residency Certificate, Form 41 and self-declarations.
Deadline for documents
- Form 121 and other tax documents must be uploaded by 5:00 P.M. (IST) on Monday, November 02, 2026; communication received after that will not be considered.
- A lower or nil tax deduction certificate from the Income Tax Department can also be submitted, with TDS then at the rate specified in the certificate.
- A TDS certificate will be e-mailed after processing; the credit can also be seen in Form 168.
Other points for shareholders
- PAN, KYC and nomination details should be updated with the depository participant for demat holdings, or with KFin Technologies Limited (registrar) for physical holdings.
- Dividend payments will be made in electronic mode only; no payable-at-par warrants, cheques or drafts will be issued.
- If tax is deducted at a higher rate because documents were not received or were incomplete, the shareholder can claim a refund in the income-tax return.
