What was announced
PFC has informed the exchanges that a Special Purpose Vehicle, Malegaon Power Transmission Limited, has been incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), itself a wholly owned subsidiary of PFC.
Purpose of the SPV
- Establishment of 400/220 kV Malegaon (Saundane) S/s, Dist. Nashik.
- The SPV takes up preparatory work: survey and preparation of report, initiating land acquisition, and initiating forest clearance if required.
How this works
PFCCL has been nominated by the Ministry of Power as Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for selection of a developer through tariff based competitive bidding for Independent Transmission Projects. Under the guidelines, the BPC prepares the project profile and starts land acquisition and forest clearance processes, for which an SPV must be incorporated.
The State Empowered Committee on Transmission, in its 10th Meeting, nominated PFCCL as BPC for this transmission system, and the Government of Maharashtra conveyed its approval.
What it means for investors
This is a routine step in PFC's consulting arm's role as bid coordinator. The SPV is temporary in PFC's hands — it has to be transferred to the successful bidder selected through the International Competitive Bidding Process, and that bidder would develop the project.
