What happened
NTPC's subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) has declared commercial operation of the fourth part capacity of 50 MW solar, out of a cumulative 300 MW solar component, which forms part of a 200 MW RE Round The Clock (RTC) project capacity in Rajasthan.
The project is held by Project Sixteen Renewable Power Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NGEL's joint venture ONGC NTPC Green Private Limited. Commercial operation is effective from 00:00 hrs of 2nd October 2026.
Capacity position after this addition
- NTPC group total installed capacity: 91,506 MW
- NTPC group commercial capacity: 90,426 MW
- NGEL group commercial capacity before addition: 11,212.51 MW
- NGEL group total installed capacity after addition: 11,262.51 MW
Why it matters
Declaring a unit commercial means the capacity can begin billing for power supplied, so it starts contributing to revenue. Capacity being added in part blocks suggests the remaining portion of the 300 MW solar component is being commissioned in stages.
