On capacity
The company manufactures a wide variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), each with different processes, batch sizes, cycle times, yields and equipment needs. It states that aggregate installed capacity cannot be meaningfully expressed as a single uniform quantity such as tonnes per annum, because actual production capacity varies with the product mix and the type of API made.
The added capacity is intended to be used flexibly across the API portfolio, based on product requirements, manufacturing schedules and available plant and equipment. The company says it will continue to disclose quantitative production or capacity information wherever it is relevant and meaningfully determinable for a particular API, product category or product mix.
How investors may read it
A new manufacturing block coming on stream expands the physical base from which the company can produce. The rationale stated is to augment manufacturing infrastructure and provide flexible capacity for its diverse API portfolio. Part of the funding is debt (₹84 crore term loan), which carries interest cost, while the larger share (₹138 crore) came from internal accruals. Actual benefit will depend on how much of the new capacity gets utilised over time.
