What was announced
Moneyboxx Finance, an RBI-registered Base Layer NBFC lending to micro and small enterprises in semi-urban and rural India, said it has received ₹84 crore of fresh debt funding.
Break-up of the ₹84 crore
- ₹35 crore from Indian Overseas Bank, an existing lender
- ₹20 crore from Bandhan Bank, which joins as a new banking partner
- ₹29 crore from two NBFC lenders
September total
Together with the ₹60 crore NCD issuance subscribed by Choice Finserv, Vakrangee and Vivriti Capital earlier in the month, the company has received ₹144 crore of debt funding in September, all of it fully drawn. The money comes from a public-sector bank, a private bank, NBFCs and capital-market investors, which the company describes as reflecting a deeper and more diversified funding base.
Why it matters
For a lending business, access to debt is the raw material for growth — more borrowing capacity allows more loans to be disbursed. Adding a new bank lender also widens the pool of funding sources.
The company says the funding comes as it prepares for a significant step-up in disbursements. It points to a growing secured MSME book, larger average ticket sizes, risk-sharing arrangements with partners and an improved borrower credit profile over the past year. Alongside its branches, it is scaling partnership-led origination through Loom Solar (rooftop solar finance), Akshayakalpa (dairy and livestock finance) and Bachatt (digital lending).
Management comment
Co-Founder and Co-CEO Deepak Aggarwal said welcoming Bandhan Bank while deepening the Indian Overseas Bank relationship is an encouraging endorsement of the franchise, and that focus now shifts to execution — scaling disbursements and translating that into AUM expansion and stronger financial performance.
How to read it
This is a funding and growth update rather than a results disclosure. The borrowings add to the company's debt, and the benefit depends on how profitably the money is deployed. The release also carries a forward-looking statement disclaimer.
