The window and who it covers
- A special window has been opened for re-lodgement of transfer and dematerialisation (demat) of physical securities that were sold or purchased prior to April 01, 2019.
- The window runs for one year, from 5 February, 2026 to 4 February, 2027.
- It is also available for transfer requests submitted earlier that were rejected, returned or not attended due to a deficiency in documents, process or otherwise.
- Where the transferee has died as per the executed transfer deed, legal heir(s) can claim the securities with all required documents as per the specified transmission procedure.
How the transferred shares will be held
- The securities will be mandatorily credited to the transferee only in demat mode.
- They will be under lock-in for one year from the date of registration of transfer.
- During this lock-in, the securities shall not be transferred, lien-marked or pledged.
- If a fraud is detected during the one-year lock-in period, the lock-in continues on the related securities till further intimation, and such securities are released only in favour of the claimant as per an order from a competent court.
What will not be considered in this window
- Cases involving disputes between the transferor and the transferee; these may be settled by them through the court or NCLT process.
