Acquisitions and corporate actions
The company completed the acquisition of the pulp and paper business of Aditya Birla Real Estate Limited, operated under the name 'Century Pulp and Paper', on 1 August 2026, as a going concern on a slump sale basis. The results of that business are included from that date, so the 'Paperboards, Paper & Packaging' segment figures are not comparable with previous periods.
On 28 September 2026 the company acquired an additional 13,445 equity shares of ₹10/- each of Sproutlife Foods Private Limited, after which Sproutlife became a wholly owned subsidiary. The board approved a scheme of amalgamation of Sproutlife with the company under Sections 230 and 232 of the Companies Act, 2013, subject to necessary approvals.
Other points to note
- 10,48,850 ordinary shares of ₹1/- each were issued and allotted under employee stock option schemes during the quarter, taking the issued and paid-up share capital to ₹1,253,05,17,081/-.
- With the GST Compensation Cess expiring, the government increased GST and Central Excise duty on cigarettes with effect from 1 February 2026. Excise duty is not excluded from gross revenue, so the revenue and excise duty figures for the quarter and six months are not strictly comparable with earlier periods.
- Standalone net cash from operating activities was ₹7,765.58 crore for the half year; dividend paid was ₹10,023.57 crore.
