What was announced
Chatha Foods has announced the commencement of commercial production at CFL Unit II, a new dedicated vegetarian manufacturing facility at Village Toffanpur, Dera Bassi (SAS Nagar), Punjab. This updates its earlier disclosure of July 27, 2026.
The facility is built on a 3.5-acre site with an installed annual capacity of 16,000 metric tonnes, and is the company's first dedicated vegetarian unit. It will make products for Unifayre, the company's market-facing brand, and for quick-service restaurant (QSR), HoReCa, institutional and private-label customers in India and international markets.
What it will make
- Breads: tortillas, Roti Canai, roti and kathi roll wraps, Malabari parathas
- Cooking bases: retorted gravies, pastes and non-mayo sauces
- Snacks and sides: veg and paneer patties, nuggets, kebabs, samosas, handmade spring rolls
The unit is described as fully automated, with lines for cold-pressed breads, retort cooking, forming and coating, and IQF/blast freezing, plus integrated R&D, automated packaging and cold-chain dispatch.
Capacity after the addition
- Dera Bassi, Punjab (vegetarian): 16,000 MT annual capacity
- Mohali, Punjab (non-vegetarian): 7,800 MT annual capacity
- Aurangabad joint venture with Allana (non-vegetarian): 7,000 MT annual capacity
- Combined integrated annual capacity: 30,800 MT
The company says the network supports more than 5,000 food outlets, restaurant brands, cloud kitchens, institutional customers and international markets.
How investors may read it
Commercial production starting means the new capacity is now live rather than under construction, which more than doubles the group's stated manufacturing capacity and widens the product range into vegetarian categories. How much of the new capacity is actually used, and how quickly, will determine the revenue and margin effect over time.
