Window for old physical securities
BirlaNu Limited (formerly HIL Limited) has notified shareholders that a Special Window has been opened from February 05, 2026 to February 04, 2027 for transfer and dematerialisation of physical securities that were sold or purchased before April 01, 2019.
What the window covers
- Transfer deeds executed before April 01, 2019 that were not lodged before that date, where the original security certificate is available.
- Transfer requests submitted earlier that were rejected, returned or not attended to because of deficiencies in documents or process, where the original security certificate is available. These can be rectified and re-submitted within the window period.
- Where the original security certificate is not available, the request is not eligible to be lodged in this window.
What the window does not cover
- Cases involving disputes between the transferor and the transferee.
- Securities that have already been transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF).
Conditions that apply
- All such transfers will be processed only in dematerialised form. Every transferee must have a valid demat account.
- The securities will be subject to a lock-in of one year from the date of registration of transfer. During this lock-in, the securities shall not be transferred, pledged or lien-marked.
Documents the transferee must submit
- Original security certificate(s).
- Transfer deed executed prior to April 01, 2019.
- Proof of purchase by the transferee, as may be available.
- KYC documents of the transferee as per ISR forms.
- Latest Client Master List (CML), not older than 2 months, of the transferee's demat account, duly attested by the Depository Participant.
- Undertaking cum Indemnity in the format at Annexure-A.

Verification the company, RTA and depositaries will carry out
- PAN, identity proof and address proof of the transferee(s) and transferor(s) shall be mandatorily confirmed.
- Where the name in the PAN card differs from the name on the transfer deed, the transfer will be registered on submission of additional documents explaining the difference, such as a copy of an Officially Valid Document or a gazette notification for a change of name.
- The special window is open for a period of one year.
