What the update says

Component-wise change

How to read these numbers

BRLLR is a lending rate benchmark built on two parts. The first is the Repo Rate, which is the rate at which banks borrow short-term funds from the central bank against government securities. The second is the Mark up, which is the bank's own add-on over that Repo Rate.

Effective BRLLR = Repo Rate + Mark up. Here, 5.50% + 2.65% = 8.15%, matching the Effective BRLLR stated in the update.

Why the rate moved

The entire change comes from the Repo Rate component, which went up by 25 bps. The Mark up is unchanged at 2.65%, so the Effective BRLLR has moved up by exactly the same 25 bps as the Repo Rate.

One basis point (bps) is one-hundredth of a percentage point, so 25 bps equals 0.25 percentage points.
