What was shared
Axis Bank has put out provisional business figures for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 (Q2 FY27). These cover gross advances, deposits, and the split between CASA and term deposits. Each figure is compared with June 30, 2026 (QoQ, or quarter-on-quarter) and September 30, 2025 (YoY, or year-on-year).
Advances and deposits: the headline numbers
- Gross advances (end balance): ₹13,846 billion as on 30-Sep-26, against ₹12,729 billion as on 30-Jun-26 and ₹11,284 billion as on 30-Sep-25 — up 22.7% YoY and 8.8% QoQ.
- Total deposits (end balance): ₹14,521 billion, against ₹13,729 billion and ₹12,035 billion — up 20.7% YoY and 5.8% QoQ.
The deposit mix
- CASA (current account and savings account) end balance: ₹5,296 billion, up 10.6% YoY and 1.5% QoQ.
- Term deposits end balance: ₹9,225 billion, up 27.3% YoY and 8.4% QoQ.
- On a quarterly average basis, total deposits were ₹13,964 billion (up 22.5% YoY, 7.0% QoQ), CASA was ₹4,943 billion (up 13.9% YoY, 2.7% QoQ) and term deposits were ₹9,021 billion (up 27.8% YoY, 9.6% QoQ).
The FCNR(B) angle
- The bank mobilised FCNR(B) deposits of USD 10.62 billion (₹1,018 billion) as on September 30, 2026, under a swap facility introduced by the Reserve Bank of India earlier in the year.
- A portion of these inflows was used to reduce non-retail term deposits during the quarter, which declined 8.6% QoQ.
- Loans extended by the bank's international branches to customers as a leveraging facility for placing such deposits were USD 4.57 billion (₹438 billion).
- Excluding these loans, gross advances would have grown 18.8% YoY and 5.3% QoQ; total deposits 17.0% YoY and 2.6% QoQ; and term deposits 21.3% YoY and 3.2% QoQ.
- Standby letters of credit issued in favour of other banks in respect of loans against FCNR(B) deposits were USD 4.69 billion (₹449 billion).
How to read the two sets of growth rates
The update gives the headline growth rates and also the growth rates after excluding the FCNR(B)-linked loans given by the international branches. Both sets are placed together, so a reader can see the reported pace and the pace excluding those loans.
One more point
