Operational picture
- Total tonnage managed in Q2 FY27 was approximately 1.28 million tonnes, higher year on year despite an exceptionally heavy monsoon.
- Collection & Transportation (C&T) volumes rose about 11.5% year on year, helped by the ramp-up of the newly commenced C&T operations in Mumbai awarded by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, and by higher volumes from existing operations including Navi Mumbai, Panvel and Noida.
- Processing volumes were about 0.68 million tonnes, roughly 7.2% lower year on year, mainly because energy operations at the Pimpri Chinchwad (PCMC) waste-to-energy facility remained suspended.
- The company said processing volumes would have grown after adjusting for the PCMC WtE facility, supported by higher volumes at the construction & demolition waste processing facility in Mumbai.
Revenue read
- Core revenue was about 1% lower year on year, as power sales from the PCMC plant were absent; C&T revenue growth largely offset this.
- For the first half of the fiscal year, core revenue growth was about 3.8%.
By-product sales
- RDF sold rose year on year, while compost sold was lower, reflecting seasonally subdued demand during the monsoon months and the disruption at the PCMC facility.
- No power was generated during the quarter, against about 14.0 million units in Q2 FY26.
PCMC WtE facility - incident and restoration
- On July 8, 2026, excessive and incessant monsoon rainfall caused a legacy waste landfill located adjacent to the facility, outside the company's operational perimeter, to collapse onto the site, causing severe structural damage and the loss of nine lives.
- Restoration is being done in close coordination with PCMC and the relevant authorities; all Original Equipment Manufacturers are working on inspection, repair and recommissioning of the affected equipment and systems.
- Based on current progress, the WtE facility is expected to be functional by December 2026.
- In the interim, Material Recovery Facility and composting operations at the site have resumed, and collection and transportation services continued uninterrupted across all project sites, including PCMC.
Support to bereaved families
- The company said it continues to honour in full the commitments disclosed earlier, including financial assistance, employment to the next of kin, educational support for minor children and medical coverage for the injured.
What to watch
- The restart of the PCMC WtE plant, expected by December 2026, and the company's plan to update on restoration at the end of every quarter through the current financial year.
