What pressured costs in the quarter
- Cost of natural gas increased 43% in Q2FY27, attributed to volume growth, elevated Brent-linked prices, the withdrawal of pooled-gas support and the prolonged West Asia crisis.
- APM allocation for the CNG segment averaged around 25% in Q2FY27, with the shortfall met through HPHT gas, new and long-term contracts and market purchases.
- After temporary pooled gas support was withdrawn effective 5 July 2026, the Government introduced a revised HPHT allocation framework, described as improving domestic gas availability for city gas entities through a demand and shortfall-based method.
- The company said its sourcing mix and calibrated pricing helped manage higher input costs while volumes grew.
New energy businesses
- E-mobility (ATEL): 5,513 EV charge points across 26 states/UTs and 225 cities, with installed capacity of about 63 MW and 4,809 charge points operational.
- Biomass (ATBL): 460 MT of CBG sold in H1FY27, including 195 tonnes through dedicated CBG stations; peak CBG production of 7.5 MTD.
- Organic manure sales were 6,865+ tonnes in H1FY27, of which 1,757+ tonnes were under the Harit Amrit brand.
ESG: the NSE Sustainability score rose to 75 and the Stakeholders Empowerment Services score improved to 75 out of 100.
How a retail reader can look at this
- The quarter shows volume, revenue and EBITDA all higher than a year earlier, with network additions continuing across CNG stations and PNG households.
- Profit growth was slower than revenue growth, and the company links the cost side to higher gas prices, the pooling change and the West Asia situation.
- These are unaudited results for the quarter and half year, in both standalone and consolidated form.
- For context, ATGL is authorised in 34 Geographical Areas, with 19 more owned by the 50:50 joint venture with Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
